Muncie Symphony Orchestra

Musician Spotlight: Tiffany Arnold

Do you want to get to know the players of the Muncie Symphony Orchestra better? Look no further! Our featured musician this March is Tiffany Arnold. Tiffany plays violin in the MSO and has been playing her instrument since she was eight years old. As a child, Tiffany attended many MSO concerts and her parents were members of the MSO Board. Now as an adult, Tiffany gets to play in the same orchestra she grew up listening to and watching! She began playing in the MSO during the mid-80s and continued through 1990. After returning to Muncie, Tiffany resumed playing in the MSO in 2009 and has continued ever since.

To Tiffany, the best thing about the MSO is playing music. “The music is what it’s all about,” says Tiffany. Her favorite memories with the MSO include playing the exciting orchestral repertoire, such as Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra and various Beethoven symphonies.

When she is not playing in the Muncie Symphony Orchestra, Tiffany’s day job is working with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of East Central Indiana (YSOECI) as the Executive Director. In addition to her position with the YSOECI, she teaches private lessons to around 30 students and homeschools her youngest daughter.

On April 28, 2018, the MSO will be performing their Season Finale. Included in this concert is a special side-by-side performance from the Youth Symphony Orchestra of East Central Indiana and the Muncie Symphony Orchestra! Tiffany is excited to play alongside her students at this concert. Together, the YSOECI and the MSO will be performing Norma by Vincenzo Bellini. Regarding the side-by-side portion of the concert, Tiffany said, “It’s such a special opportunity for our students to get to play alongside a professional orchestra, such as the MSO — something that they will probably remember for the rest of their lives.  That is rewarding in itself.”

You don’t want to miss this performance with Tiffany, the YSOECI and the MSO at the Season Finale on April 28, 2018. There will be a pre-concert talk at 6:30 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Emens Auditorium. Buy tickets online or call Emens Box Office at (765) 285-1539.
