“Our first venture into a ‘Symphonic Halloween’ concert will feature pieces typically associated with this unique holiday- Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain and Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique,” says MSO Artistic Director and Conductor, Douglas Droste. “These pieces will bookend our talented Young Artist Competition winners, Sage Hamm and Abigail Ko, in their debuts with the Muncie Symphony.”
Saturday’s concert begins with Mussorgsky’s eerie Night on Bald Mountain followed by performances from the talented 2018 MSO Young Artist Competition Winners. Sage Hamm, the Steve Dingledine Senior Division Winner, will perform Camille Saint-Saens’ Piano Concerto No. 2, and Abigail Ko, the Ladonna Dingledine Junior Division Winner, will perform Max Bruch’s Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26. After intermission, the world-renown Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz will fill concertgoers with excitement and anticipation.
Refreshments will be offered in the George and Frances Ball Foundation Lobby at intermission. At the conclusion of the concert, join Douglas Droste and MSO 2018 Young Artist Competition Winners, Sage Hamm and Abigail Ko, for an engaging talk-back.
The MSO’s 70th Season is made possible by the generosity of our community, including Muncie Power Products (Season Sponsor) and concert support provided by the George and Frances Ball Foundation.
