Music on the Move! is a free program available through a partnership between Muncie Symphony Orchestra and the Ball State University School of Music. Elementary students experience a small chamber ensemble (string quartet, woodwind quintet, brass quintet) in a casual, personal, interactive musical conversation. Performances for students of all ages are upbeat and informal. Programs are age-appropriate and last approximately 25 minutes. The program works best in a small auditorium, or a choral, music or band room and with no more than 50 students; same day, up to 3 back-to-back ensemble performances at one location are available. This program is also available to pre-schools, non-profit educational organizations, nursing homes and adult day-care centers and groups of home schooled students. The ensemble available for schools in 2012-13 season is marked with *

YOUNG PEOPLES CONCERT Local elementary students attended this concert of live symphonic music free of charge.
Presenting sponsor of this year’s concert: McDonald’s of Muncie
Program: Music is a Language!
The Young People’s Concert, held during the school day, engages young minds through an exciting full-orchestra performance. This morning performance by the Muncie Symphony correlates with Indiana Standards of Learning. Participating schools receive student listening guides, and a teacher guide in advance of the performance. Both elementary and secondary students are invited to Young People’s Concerts; age-appropriate performance guides help students and teachers get the most out of the concert experience. The concert on January 30, 2013 was geared toward 4th, 5th and 6th graders , though students of any age were welcome at all concerts. Concerts serve city, county public, private and home-schooled students. Watch a short video excerpt from the concert
