Open Rehearsals

Students, this is your chance to see the Muncie Symphony at work in rehearsal in the Emens Auditorium or Sursa Hall.

Open rehearsals give middle, high school and college students and their teachers the opportunity to learn from the Muncie Symphony musicians, guest artists and conductors.

Students are invited to observe a complete (2 ½ hour) or partial (30-60 minute) rehearsal; there will be a fifteen minute break approximately halfway through. Following the rehearsal, the conductor, guest artists and/or select members of the MSO may take questions from students.

Open Rehearsals are free of charge.  Reservations must be made in advance through the MSO office 765.285.5531. Attending students are expected to treat the open rehearsal as a learning event, listen to the symphony rehearsal actively and attentively.  Participating schools are encouraged to only bring students who are motivated and interested, and enough chaperons to ensure a positive experience.

Concert etiquette is required during all rehearsals.

For groups of 10 or more, reservations should be made no later than a week before rehearsal date. Please indicate a first and second choice when making a reservation.

Please check our calendar for the concert schedule and call our office if you plan to attend a rehearsal. Evening rehearsals usually take place the week of the concert, Wednesday through Friday.
