Music Without Borders
2013-2014 Season Preview
Douglas Droste, MSO Artistic Director/Conductor.
“Music Without Borders” is the theme of the Muncie Symphony Orchestra’s 2013-2014 Classical Season. Enjoy a season of music styles and composers from many countries. The programing includes compositions of 20th Century music by Ralph Vaughn Williams, Samuel Barber, Alberto Ginastera, Aaron Copland, Michael Ash, and Ottrorino Respighi, the familiar music of 19th Century composers Anton Dvorák, and Ludwig Beethoven and 18th Century composer Wolfgang Amadous Mozart and 21st Century composer Scott Routenberg. The music is as diverse as a Mozart piano concerto and the award winning concerto for jazz violin and orchestra composed by Routenberg, assistant professor of Jazz Piano. You will hear the Muncie Symphony Orchestra musicians performing with Philip and Oliver Shou (winners of the 2013 junior division and senior division MSO Young Artist Competition), Christian Howes, and the voices of combined choirs and BSU faculty singing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
